With the unveiling of the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and SRT Grand Cherokee at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, the crown jewel of the Jeep lineup gets a little bit brighter.

While Chrysler may not have refreshed the 2014 Grand Cherokee as drastically as they did with the 2013 Ram 1500, much of the DNA from the Ram refresh has made its way over to Jeep.

The same Ram which minutes before the Grand Cherokee unveiling pick up North American Truck of the Year honors. Not a bad way for Chrysler to kick off the show with style.
The main talking points for this years model revolve around upgrades to a more premium interior with beefed up safety and infomatic systems, increased fuel economy, and finally a diesel option.
The diesel Grand Cherokee will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V-6 capable of producing a class-leading 240 horsepower and a hefty 420 lb.-ft. of torque and offer 21 city / 30 highway mileage in 4×2 or 20 city / 28 highway in 4×4 mode.
However the 2014 Grand Cherokee does better at the besides when it’s sipping diesel. Thanks to a new eight-speed automatic transmission carried over from the Ram, even the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 will improve to 17 city / 25 highway mileage. A two highway MPG improvement over the current 2013 Grand Cherokee.

For safety, the newest Grand Cherokee will sport Front Park Assist, Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Selec-Speed Control. And with upgrades to infotainment controls, Chrysler hopes to reduce driver distraction through its Uconnect system.

The system reads out on 5 inch or 8.4-inch touchscreen, offers integraded climate and infotainment controls while allowing remote access via Mobile devices and cloud based voice texting. Keep those hands on the wheel everyone.
2014 SRT Grand Cherokee
Inside, both the Jeep and SRT version of the Grand Cherokee received a luxury makeover. More metal and wood trim and in more colors can be found higher Grand Cherokee trims, with the SRT model getting carbon fiber accents added as well.
